happy 31 years of wedding bliss to my parents followed by the soundtrack to my life

today my parents have been married for 31 years of blissfully happy days {and they haven’t killed each other yet!!!} ha! but seriously… it’s an accomplishment in this day & age. i’ts rare for a kid to be able to say that their parents are still together & i am proud to say that mine are & still very much in love. every marriage has ups & every marriage has downs but what gets you through the days is finding that person who will ride out the tidal waves with you and wash up on shore beside you. then you can order a pina colada, lay on the beach & smile at each other, realizing that you’ve come so far. i appreciate my parents for who they are as parents & for who they are as husband & wife. they have provided me with guidance, through example, on how to be a wife, what to look for in a husband & how to be a mother. for this i am forever grateful & i hope that they have a most amazing day today. 31 years ago they carved their name into this tree in kentucky. their initials are deep in the oak & will remain there forever, just like their love. a forever reminder. mom & dad don’t ever forget that day.

“i have an idea that is is what enduring love really means, your memories of a girl at seventeen become as real and vivid as the middle-aged woman sitting in front of you. it is a happy sort of double vision, this seeing and remembering. to be seen this way is to be known.”
